About Arborista

Hello! I guess you’re wondering who’s behind this website. This is Tony Terentev speaking (well, technically, my wife, who's building this website - she has a sense of humor and likes brackets (really)).

Like many of you might guess, I’m a recent immigrant. I came to Canada from Russia in 2022, just after you-know-what happened. Back home, I started my career as a doctor, but later shifted into entrepreneurship when my wife and I co-founded Travel Real Russia.

When we moved to Canada and had to start fresh, I launched a BBQ cleaning business. Later on, I found a job as an arborist — and that's what inspired me to start Arborista, offering tree pruning and small tree removal as my own service.

This isn’t one of those "who-knows-who’s-coming-to-your-door" companies. I personally stand behind every job we do. Every service we offer has a face, someone I trust — and believe you will too.

  • An arborist is a trained tree-care specialist focused on the health, structure, and safety of trees. They perform tasks like pruning, removal, pest and disease management, and risk assessments. A landscaper typically handles lawns, garden beds, irrigation, and general groundskeeping, with an emphasis on overall aesthetics rather than tree biology and safety.

  • Yes. Tony is an ISA-Certified Arborist and Arborista is fully insured for both liability and workers’ compensation. This protects you, your property, and our team throughout every project.

  • Most residential pruning jobs don’t require permits. However, in Calgary (or on boulevard/protected trees), removal of certain species or large-diameter trees may need city approval. We’ll advise you if a permit is necessary and can assist with the application process.

    • All work follows ISA and industry-standard safety protocols.

    • Crews wear proper PPE (helmets, harnesses, eye/ear protection).

    • We secure the work zone, use rigging techniques, and employ aerial lifts or cranes when needed.

  • Absolutely. We haul away branches, wood chips, and all debris, then do a final yard sweep. If you’d like to keep wood for firewood, we’ll stack it neatly on your property.

  • We accept e-transfer, credit cards, and cash. Payment is due upon job completion, unless other arrangements are made in advance.
